About this role
<p>Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.</p> <h3> </h3> <p><strong>Role Purpose</strong></p> <p>Support the implementation of digital transformation initiatives and IT projects within engineering and operations. Assist in creating documentation, process manuals, and reports for business units. Gain hands-on experience in project management, IT support, and digital tools to enhance operational efficiency and innovation.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <p> </p> <ul> <li> <p>Assist in managing IT and digital transformation projects, including planning, development, testing, and go-live phases.</p> </li> <li> <p>Create and maintain documentation, process manuals, and reports for business units.</p> </li> <li> <p>Support workshops, training sessions, and change management activities.</p> </li> <li> <p>Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and maintain network systems and devices.</p> </li> <li> <p>Conduct research on industry trends and best practices in digital transformation.</p> </li> <li> <p>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy innovative solutions.</p> </li> <li> <p>Shadow experienced IT professionals to gain practical knowledge and improve technical skills.</p> </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Required Education</strong></p> <p>Student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in: Systems Engineering IT, Business Engineering, Development Engineering, Fully bilingual (English/Spanish).</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Desired Skills</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of Microsoft O365 and IT infrastructure.</p> </li> <li> <p>Familiarity with digital tools and technologies (IoT, data analytics, automation).</p> </li> <li> <p>Coding experience in R, Python, SQL, or similar languages.</p> </li> <li> <p>Strong communication and presentation skills.</p> </li> <li> <p>Project management and documentation abilities.</p> </li> <li> <p>Analytical mindset with attention to detail.</p> </li> <li> <p>Ability to work independently, adapt quickly, and collaborate effectively in teams.</p> </li> </ul>
