About this role
Lead where clinical excellence, meaningful relationships, and visible leadership impact come together. At UVA Health’s Orange Dialysis Clinic, you can guide a close-knit team caring for patients who depend on consistent, expert dialysis care throughout their lives. This Nurse Manager opportunity is designed for an accomplished RN leader to advance into formal management. In a 12-station community dialysis clinic, you’ll have the autonomy to shape team performance, strengthen clinical outcomes, and lead meaningful improvement while benefiting from Nurse Manager mentorship and broader UVA Health leadership resources. The Role As Nurse Manager, you’ll lead a smaller outpatient dialysis environment where you can know your team, understand the needs of your patients, and see the results of your leadership. Because patients return regularly for life-sustaining therapy, this setting creates opportunities to build long-term therapeutic relationships while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, regulatory compliance, and clinical outcomes. The clinic operates Monday through Saturday beginning at 6:00 a.m. Your leadership will include:
• Developing and engaging the clinical team, creating shared ownership for improvement rather than simply directing change. • Identifying opportunities to strengthen clinical performance, quality, and patient outcomes. • Leading change initiatives from problem identification through implementation and follow-through. • Using performance metrics to identify priorities and drive measurable improvement. • Balancing accountability with empathy, including navigating crucial conversations and differing perspectives. • Building strong relationships with patients, nurses, interdisciplinary colleagues, and clinic staff. • Maintaining focus on the regulatory expectations associated with a highly regulated dialysis environment. • Creating an environment where staff understand the "why" behind change and have a voice in how improvements are achieved. This opportunity may be especially compelling for a Charge Nurse or experienced clinical leader ready for the next step. Direct Nurse Manager experience is not necessarily required when paired with demonstrated leadership capability and the required dialysis experience. Why UVA Health At UVA Health, dialysis leadership connects community-based care with the expertise of an academic health system. UVA’s outpatient dialysis network includes 11 freestanding clinics throughout central Virginia, supporting patients with advanced kidney disease and hemodialysis needs. Orange offers a distinctive environment within that network: a smaller clinic where your leadership can be personal, hands-on, and highly visible.
• Lead with autonomy and support. Nurse Manager mentorship provides an experienced leadership resource as you navigate people leadership, quality improvement, and operational priorities. • Make an impact you can see. A 12-station setting creates opportunities to understand your team's strengths, identify barriers, and lead improvements closely tied to patient care. • Build your leadership career. Develop further expertise in change management, team development, regulatory readiness, quality improvement, and clinical outcomes. • Build lasting patient relationships. Chronic dialysis care creates an uncommon opportunity to know the people you serve and support them throughout an ongoing care journey. • Connect to deeper nephrology expertise. UVA Health's nephrology professionals care for patients across the spectrum of kidney disease, including chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and continuous renal replacement therapy. • Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
For a nurse who knows leadership is the direction they want to pursue, Orange offers an opportunity to lead a close-knit team, influence outcomes, and grow within UVA Health.
