The Maternity Department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is a great place to work. We are friendly and ambitious, with plans in place to continue to develop and improve the service we offer. We endeavour to provide an exceptionally high standard of care to women and babies.
Main duties of the job
As Norfolk's largest midwifery service covering 1200 square miles, we provide care for approximately 4,800 births per year. Our In-Patient facilities include 32 postnatal beds, 8 transitional care beds, and 14 antenatal beds. Our Delivery Suite has 13 birthing rooms, a birthing pool, and a Bereavement Suite. Facilities also include 2 obstetric theatres, anaesthetic rooms and a 2-bedded recovery bay. Alongside there is also a Maternity Triage area which is a 4 bedded bay, a single room and a rapid assessment room. We have a co-located 4-bedded Midwifery Led Birthing Unit.
Our maternity department supports a high-quality Fetal Medicine Service, as well as being a Maternal Medicine Centre providing specialised care across the region. We work closely with our local partners including Perinatal Mental Health, the Mother and Baby Unit and Healthy Child Services to ensure we provide continuous support for the mother, baby and families in our care.

Job description Job responsibilities
The post holder will support the operational management of the unit by coordinating daily activities and optimising available resources, acting up to assume responsibility in the absence of more senior staff. Key duties include prioritising care requirements, allocating staffing effectively, and maintaining an active overview of the progress and safety of all women within the clinical area.
To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUHs PRIDE values of People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence.
All posts within maternity are rotational to ensure clinical skills are maintained across all care settings. Please note: our unit teams work a variety of rostered shiftspredominantly long days and night shifts, with a limited availability of shorter early and late shiftsto maintain a comprehensive 24-hour service, 365 days a year. We are looking for adaptable professionals who possess the flexibility to support us in meeting these service demands. To ensure operational continuity and robust skill-mix coverage,a minimum contractual commitment of 24 hours per week is required for all successful candidates.
