Job summary
In an exciting recent development, we are pleased to be in a position to expand our workforce and are seeking to recruit a number of childrens wellbeing practitioners to join a PCN (Primary Care Network) mental health service in South Tyneside and Sunderland.
This involves identifying individuals who have the ability to assist in delivering low intensity, evidence-based interventions for children, young people and their families who present with a variety of mental health difficulties. Within this new and innovative service model, the team is made up of both high and low intensity Children and Young Peoples Mental Health (CYPMH) practitioners and will work in close partnership with our well-established Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Services.
This multi-disciplinary team will deliver a range of interventions that support the identification of mental health needs at the earliest stage, while enabling access to services that build resilience and promote positive mental wellbeing.
Main duties of the job
We expect the post holder to possess sound children and young peoples mental health knowledge and skills. You will have the aptitude, motivation and enthusiasm for working within a pioneering service. Candidates will:

To work as a member of the Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Services in South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust providing a Getting Help mental health service to children and young people.
This includes the direct provision of evidence-based interventions and outcome focused standards of care to children and families/carers.
The delivery of high quality training, consultation, and support to other staff.
The service will be delivered from Community bases as an integral part of an agreed iTHRIVE multi-agency model of Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Service provision.
Work collaboratively with multi professional teams to ensure practice is efficient, effective, evidence based and safe.
To promote at all times a positive image of children and young people with mental health conditions.

Person Specification
Physical Skills Essential
Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle. Ability to manage own time and diary and meet requirements and demands of work within the service. The ability to, on occasion, move and handle objects in line with Trust guidelines using appropriate aids. The ability to work flexibly, sometimes working additional or unsocial hours, as necessary to meet the needs of the service and ensure a complete understanding is had in relation to care delivery. Standard keyboard skills.
Qualifications Essential
Post Graduate Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner Diploma. Registration with an appropriate governing body, i.e. BABCP(British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists), BPS(British Psychological Society) as a Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner, or working towards registration and successfully registered within the first six months of appointment.
Desirable
Additional post graduate qualification in Children and Young Peoples Mental Health, therapeutic training or other relevant area. Recognised supervision certificate.
Experience Essential
Experience of delivering low intensity psychological interventions to support the mental health needs of children, young people and families. Experience of working within a community or education context. Experience of working to safeguard and promote welfare in children. Experience of working within a Getting Help/Getting More Help CYPMHS.
Desirable
Experience of multi disciplinary team working. Experience of working collaboratively within a multi-agency context. Experience of teaching or delivering training. Experience of working in a service where agreed targets are in place that demonstrate clinical outcome. Experience of delivering caseload management/clinical supervision.
Skills and Knowledge Essential
Ability to carry out clinical and risk assessments with children, young people and their families Knowledge of universal and specialist childrens mental health service provision. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other associated IT packages. Proven organisational skills Proven time and caseload management skills Able to write clear reports and letters. Demonstrates a high standard in both written and oral communication. Ability to engage vulnerable and underserved populations. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to work flexibly in a variety of environments. Ability to work under supervision and make good use of the supervisory process for personal and clinical development. Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how this may present in children and young people. Demonstrates an understanding of the need for evidence based psychological therapies. An understanding of the mental health needs of children, young people and their families. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of safeguarding and the promotion of welfare in children. Ability to work autonomously, with supervision, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Excellent time and caseload management.
Desirable
Knowledge of relevant legislation guidance and good practice. Working knowledge of child development and its application to mental health.
