Job summary
Applications are invited to apply for a Trust Specialty Registrar Doctor (ST3+ equivalent) in Histopathology to work in the Department of Cellular Pathology at the Wycombe Hospital, High Wycombe. The posts are available from 05/08/2026 until 02/02/2027. 1.4 WTE vacancies are available to take as either 0.8WTE and 0.6WTE or 1WTE and 0.4WTE.
The successful candidate will participate in the macroscopic investigation of a wide range of histopathological specimens under consultant supervision. He/she will carry out cut up duties according to the departmental rotation.
The successful candidate must have GMC registration, MBBS (or equivalent) and a minimum of 2 years training in histopathology (however familiarity with the UK Histopathology training system would be desirable). These posts have no on call requirement and working hours are weekdays between 9am-5pm. These posts are for a period of 6 months.All applicants MUST hold a full GMC registration with a Licence to Practice in the UKWe anticipate this to be a popular post, therefore we encourage interested applicants to apply early. Main duties of the job
You will be working alongside 11 Cellular Pathology Consultants, 2 Specialty doctors and 5 Specialist registrars (ST2-ST5) on the Thames Valley Deanery rotation.
The post holder will be involved in the organisation of the rota of the department and opportunities will be available to learn about general laboratory management and administration.
Histopathology cut up
The post holder will be gradually introduced to cutting-up procedures with Consultant supervision tailored to the experience of the post holder. A gradually increasing degree of independence will be encouraged as the necessary skills to deal with more complex specimens are acquired.
Histopathology reporting, Cytopathology and Autopsy training
This is a service appointment, and the department takes no responsibility for training the post holder for reporting histopathology, diagnostic cytopathology and post-mortems. However, there will be some opportunity to do some reporting of cases depending on the experience and rota arrangement. Also the post holder is expected to participate in departmental audits etc.

Training & Clinical Duties
There will be an initial induction period in which the post holder will become familiar with the basics of the running of the department, its management, the laboratory standard operating procedures, Health & Safety, and the technical processes.
