About this role

Job summary

Applications are invited for one highly motivated clinical fellows (SpR Level) in Renal transplant and vascular access surgery to start as soon as possible and one for April 2023.

The posts will suit applicants who wish to gain extensive experience in renal transplantation vascular access surgery. Previous experience in General and vascular Surgery is advantageous.

You will be providing highest quality care to one of the largest dialysis and transplant cohort in the UK under direct supervision of a team of highly motivated consultant surgeons.

The appointee will be exposed to all aspects of advanced dialysis access and transplant surgery and the relevant medical management of these complex patients on a 1:5 oncall rota. This post is EWTD compliant.

Main duties of the job

Bart's NHS trust is UK's largest trust with Renal and transplant services based at the Royal London hospital. With one of the largest dialysis cohort, the Royal London provides excellent teaching and training opportunities.

The successful candidate will join a team of 7 consultants and will be a part of 5 middle grade doctors. General duties will provide wide exposure to all parts of the renal transplant and dialysis access training including

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

MB BS, or equivalent MRCS/FRCS or equivalent

Desirable

Higher degree, E.g. MD/phd

Knowledge Essential

Knowledge of basic of vascular access surgery

Desirable

Knowledge of all aspects of renal transplantation Publication in this area

Training Expected Essential

Training on general surgery/vascular surgery Experience in training undergraduates and postgraduates

Desirable

Previous exposure in Renal Transplant and vascular access surgery

Audit Experience Essential

Able to provide evidence of clinical audit and demonstrate understanding of impact and challenges this brings.

Experience of audit management

Academic Achievements, Research & Publications Essential

Ability to demonstrate personal experience of clinical research and describe and discuss findings and impact. Experience of research, presentations to learned societies on topics related to surgery

Desirable

Demonstrate number of publications in indexed journals, over a variety of subjects relevant to this post. Phd/ MD Thesis

Excellent presentational and verbal skills, ability to motivate and develop medical trainees, awareness of best practice through evidence based medicine, and personal drive to enact the change with the team
