Job summary
We are excited to announce a newly created role tolead and deliver the specialist pharmacy services for patients receiving mavacamten (and other myosin inhibitors as they become licensed) for treatment of obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) at OUH and to work within the network to set up and support hub and spoke services for provision of mavacamten with regional centres.
The post holder will provide expert clinical pharmaceutical care to support the safe prescribing and monitoring of mavacamten and other myosin inhibitors. The role will include prescribing, medicines optimisation, clinical monitoring, patient counselling, service development, education and contribution to local and national governance frameworks relating to high-cost specialist medicines for cardiomyopathy. The post-holder will also support the cardiothoracic pharmacy team to deliver ward-based clinical pharmacy services and support the main dispensary at the John Radcliffe hospital.

Main duties of the job
1. To work with the Inherited Cardiac Condition (ICC) clinical service unit at OUH to provide specialized pharmacy services for patients receiving mavacamten (and other myosin inhibitors as available) for obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
2. To provide expert clinical pharmaceutical care including supporting safe prescribing and monitoring, of myosin inhibitors, inputting into local and national governance frameworks and working collaboratively with the ICC team.
3. To provide clinical pharmacy support for the use of other specialized medicines within the ICC service including perhexiline, hydroquinidine etc.
4. To provide clinical pharmacy services to the Cardiothoracic Directorate to support the clinical pharmacy team as needed on a reciprocal basis.
5. To work within the dispensary as required as part of the pharmacy team rota.
6. To promote and ensure the safe and effective use of medicines within the directorate to achieve high standards of medicines related aspects of patient care.
7. To encourage the cost-effective use of medicines and to improve the quality of pharmaceutical care for patients.

Masters Degre (4 Year MPharm or equivalent) in Pharmacy Registered as pharmacist with the GPhC Post Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice and due to complete the diploma, or equivalent external credentialling via CPPE/ RPS

Post Graduate Diploma/MSc in Pharmacy Practice or experience/ qualification/ credentialling deemed equivalent. Independent Prescriber Completion of formal Leadership program
