Job summary
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic individual to join our Medical Secretarial Team as a Medical Secretary / Team Leader.
You will be responsible for the day to day management and allocation of workloads for a Medical Secretarial team who will provide secretarial and administrative support to Consultants and other health care professionals within the Child Development Team. In return you will join a supportive team environment.
Broad experience of Trust IT systems and experience in a secretarial job are essential to this role. Applicants with experience in an NHS /medical setting would be an advantage.
You will need to possess excellent communication skills and be open and accessible in order to provide the required support for queries, questions, advice and support for the Consultants and other health care professionals within the Child Development Team.

Main duties of the job
You will have team leadership responsibilities to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Medical Secretarial team. You will be responsible for the day to day management of these staff including supervision, sickness monitoring, appraisals and annual leave approval.
You will need to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, must be flexible in approach, able to exercise initiative and demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism, being aware of the need for confidentiality and integrity.
You will need to be a self-motivated individual with proven secretarial skills which include an AMSPAR qualification, excellent audio typing speed 60 wpm, diary management, and an excellent telephone manner as is the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. You will need to be able to work to set deadlines and be calm under pressure as this is a very busy and at times demanding environment with a willingness to undertake and learn new tasks.
