Job summary
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our busy Vascular Ward team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced acute setting caring for patients with a wide range of vascular conditions, including peripheral arterial disease, diabetic foot complications, aneurysms, and post-operative vascular surgery patients.
Our ward provides high-quality specialist care within a supportive multidisciplinary environment. You will work closely with vascular surgeons, specialist nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists, and discharge teams to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
We have a varied shift pattern of early shifts (0730-1400), late shifts (13:30-2000), long days (0730-2000), night shifts (1930-0800).
Main duties of the job
Deliver high standards of nursing care to vascular and surgical patients Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care Monitor deteriorating patients and respond appropriately to acute clinical needs Support patients pre- and post-operatively Administer medications and treatments in line with NHS policies Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team Provide education and support to patients and relatives Maintain accurate clinical documentation Supervise and support junior staff and students where appropriat

Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration Effective communication and interpersonal skills Good organisation and time management skills Ability to prioritise workload in a busy acute ward environment Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Knowledge of clinical governance and evidence-based practice Ability to recognise and escalate deteriorating patients appropriately Basic IT skills and ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation Post Registration Experience Understanding of safeguarding, infection prevention, and patient safety principles
