Job summary

In partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, we are pleased to be recruiting a Macmillan Administration and Project Support Officer (Band 6) to support the implementation and delivery of the Improving my Cancer Journey (ICJ) service within the Primary, Community and Intermediate Care (PCIC) Directorate across Cardiff and the Vale.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the next phase of ICJ, supporting the transition from scoping into delivery of a community-based, person-centred cancer support model.

Working closely with the Macmillan Project Manager, the postholder will support the coordination and delivery of the programme, working collaboratively with primary care, cancer services, community organisations and third sector partners.

The role offers an opportunity to contribute to service development, stakeholder engagement, and evaluation, supporting the ongoing growth and sustainability of the ICJ model.

Welsh language skills are desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

This post is Fixed Term/Secondment for 12 months due to funding.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be a key member of the Improving my Cancer Journey (ICJ) team within Primary, Community and Intermediate Care (PCIC), supporting delivery and development of a community-based, person-centred cancer support service.

Lead and coordinate delegated elements of the ICJ project, ensuring delivery against agreed objectives, timescales and quality standards. Provide project and administrative support to the Macmillan Project Manager, applying appropriate project management approaches. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders including primary care, cancer services, locality teams, community organisations and third sector partners. Act as a central point of coordination for project activity, supporting communication and engagement, and representing the project at meetings as required. Plan and support meetings and engagement activity, including agenda preparation, coordination of papers and follow-up actions. Monitor progress, risks and issues, taking corrective action or escalating as appropriate. Collect and analyse qualitative and quantitative data to support monitoring, evaluation and reporting. Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with information governance standards.

Person Specification

Other Essential

Travel around Cardiff and Vale, and possibly further afield on a regular basis.

Desirable

Welsh Speaker (Level 1) or willingness to work towards

Qualifications and Knowledge Essential

Degree plus a post graduate diploma or equivalent experience. Project management training or equivalent experience. Evidence of continued professional development.

Desirable

Prince 2 or similar Project Management Qualification.

Skills and Attributes Essential

Developing and monitoring complex project plans. Developed interpersonal and communication skills. Experience of problem solving. Ability to prioritise and organise workload.

Desirable

Advanced IT skills in a range of desktop applications e.g., Excel, Power BI.

Experience Essential

Experience in use of MS Office software. Experience of maintaining and developing databases. Experience of working within the community within the NHS. Experience of analysing and presenting information.

Experience of working on a project. Experience of successful implementation of a new system/ way of working.
