Job Overview:
We’re helping our client, a premium direct-to-consumer apparel brand, find a Men’s or Women’s Activewear Designer to lead the design and development of their expanding performance apparel category.
In this role, you’ll own the end-to-end design process for activewear, balancing technical performance, elevated aesthetics, and commercial viability, while helping shape the future of modern performance essentials.
Responsibilities:
Design & Product Development
Design men’s or women’s activewear across key categories including tops, bottoms, outerwear, and sets Develop seasonal concepts, color palettes, silhouettes, and fabric direction aligned with brand DNA Create detailed, production-ready tech packs, specs, and construction details Partner closely with Product Development to source and develop performance fabrics and trims Participate in fit sessions, sample reviews, and revisions to ensure premium fit, comfort, and function
Performance & Brand Alignment
Balance technical performance needs (stretch, breathability, durability) with clean, minimalist design Ensure all designs reflect the brand’s core principles: precision fit, premium feel, and refined aesthetics Use customer feedback, sales data, and market insights to inform design decisions
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with Merchandising to meet category goals, margin targets, and assortment needs Partner with Marketing on product storytelling, launches, and visual direction Work with Production and Sourcing teams to ensure quality, cost, and timeline alignment
Requirements
Must-Have
4+ years of experience designing activewear or performance apparel (men’s or women’s) Strong understanding of technical garment construction and performance fabrics Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and related design tools Experience creating detailed, production-ready tech packs Strong knowledge of fit, grading, and construction for activewear Ability to thrive in a fast-paced DTC or startup environment Nice-to-Have
Experience with premium or minimalist apparel brands Knowledge of sustainable or innovative fabric technologies Experience designing lifestyle-to-performance crossover products Familiarity working with overseas manufacturers and vendors
