Job summary

Are you a dedicated Registered General Nurse (RGN) looking for a new challenge within a diverse and rewarding healthcare environment?

Main duties of the job

The role includes delivering nurse-led clinics, administering medications and treatments, responding to medical emergencies, undertaking triage assessments, wound management, physical examinations and making referrals to specialist services where appropriate.

You will work collaboratively with a range of healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive safe, effective and person-centred care. You will need sound clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced and varied environment.

Job description Job responsibilities

The post holder will provide a comprehensive physical healthcare service as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality care to patients within a secure healthcare environment.

Working in partnership with colleagues across primary care, mental health and substance misuse services, the post holder will contribute to the delivery of an integrated healthcare model that meets the physical health needs of the prison population.

Key responsibilities include:

Undertaking health assessments and clinical reviews. Delivering nurse-led clinics and evidence-based interventions. Administering medications, treatments and vaccinations safely and effectively. Performing diagnostic procedures and investigations within scope of practice. Responding to medical emergencies and urgent healthcare needs. Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individualised care. Providing health promotion, education and support to patients. Working collaboratively with internal and external healthcare providers to coordinate care. Maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring compliance with professional and organisational standards. Contributing to service development, clinical governance and quality improvement activities.

Knowledge Essential

Knowledge of current healthcare issues. Knowledge of clinical governance audit, risk management and quality agenda. Working within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team. Competent in clinical practice e.g., phlebotomy, ECG monitoring Worked in a complex environment managing deteriorating patients Understanding and application of confidentiality

Desirable

Experience of working within a Health & Justice environment Experience of health needs assessment/Triage Working to Patient Group Directives Experience in working in general practice Management / Minor Injuries Experience of using SystmOne or willing to undertake training
