About this role

Job summary

The post holder will support the development,implementationand evaluation of a community-to-secondary care research access pathway for people living with obesity and long-term conditions across Northamptonshire.

Working collaboratively with Specialist Weight Management Services, community teams, primary care, secondary care research teams and wider system partners, the post holder will provide specialist advisoryexpertiseto supportequitableaccess to research participation and improve readiness for future NIHR portfolio and commercial research studies.

The post holder will utilise specialist knowledge and experience of Specialist Weight Management Services to support pathway design, stakeholder engagement and integration between community and secondary care services, with a particular focus on improving access and inclusion for underserved populations.

The role will contribute to pathway development, stakeholder engagement, referral and consent-to-contact processes, service improvement activities and workforce engagement across community and secondary care settings.

The post holder will work as part of a wider multidisciplinary research and clinical network supporting integrated research initiatives, pathway transformation activities and research system development across University Hospitals of Northamptonshire and partner organisations.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be appointed through Kettering General Hospital as part of the wider R&D and Diabetes research pathway programme and will work closely with the Research Coordinator, Diabetes Centre teams and secondary care research staff to support the development and implementation of the community-to-secondary care research access pathway.

The post holder willprovidespecialist insight and operationalexpertiserelating to Specialist Weight Management Service delivery, patientpathwaysand multidisciplinary working, helping to inform pathway design, stakeholder engagement and integration between community and secondary care services.

The post holder will contribute to pathway workshops, service development discussions, feasibilityassessmentsand activities aimed at improvingequitableaccess to research participation for underserved populations across Northamptonshire.

Person Specification

Educations, Training and Qualifications Essential

Degree-level qualification in Dietetics, Nutrition, Public Health, Healthcare or related field, or equivalent relevant experience Level of education; Professional qualifications; including evidence of CPD

Desirable

Professional registration or relevant healthcare background Postgraduate training or equivalent relevant experience within obesity, weight management, public health or community healthcare services

Knowledge and Experience Essential

Experience working at a senior level within a Specialist Weight Management Service or community-based obesity service Strong understanding of Specialist Weight Management Service delivery, patient pathways and multidisciplinary working Experience of developing, implementing and evaluating projects and audits. Experience of stakeholder engagement and collaborative working across organisations Experience of supporting staff development, training or service implementation Experience of leadership within weight management, community healthcare or service development settings Experience of multi disciplinary and multi agency working Understanding of barriers to research participation and health inequalities affecting underserved populations

Skills Essential

Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge and practical application of current evidence-based practice Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying approach according to need/situation Ability to demonstrate professional, ethical and evidence-based practice within healthcare or service environments Excellent presentation skills Ability to demonstrate knowledge of Clinical Governance, standard setting and audit process (understanding the principles of Clinical Governance).
