Job summary

The post is based at Kettering General hospital although cross-site working is encouraged as a part of university hospitals of Northamptonshire (UHN). This is a replacement post with sub-specialty interest in cardiothoracic imaging. The post holder will join in established cohesive team of radiologists supporting clinicians and delivering acute and elective imaging in both specialist areas and in general Radiology

Main duties of the job

This post would support emergency Radiology, cancer imaging reporting, attending multi-disciplinary teams' meetings, and covering Ultrasound (if appropriate), CT and MR sessions in the working week. This role includes all aspects of a sub-specialty radiologist role, to include supervising and reporting cardiac CT and cardiac MRI , cardiac imaging MDT The role also includes but not limited to vetting, reporting, duty (hot reporting/CT/MRI and emergency service) and on call.

Job description Job responsibilities

The work programme and job plan will be agreed on appointment. It is a full time appointment. As a minimum it will be examined yearly during job planning. It will include a minimum of 1.5 SPA (Supporting professional activities) and rest DCC (Direct Clinical care activities). Distinct roles with other NHS responsibilities will attract further PA. Remote working is supported as part of the Job plan within the Trust and EMRAD consortium. Remote workstations can be provided (subject to availability). The job plan will be subject to review, with any revisions sought by mutual agreement but it is expected that the successful candidate will work with the Clinical business unit management team across UHN to ensure that services are delivered efficiently and reflect best practice with processes and governance to match. There is on-call commitment, included in the weekly timetable. The rota is 1 in 13, which will be one weekday between 5pm-8pm, and split weekends (10am-4pm). Currently, 1 PA is given for on-call.

Teaching/Audit/QI Essential

Experience of Audit and Quality Improvement Experience of Teaching Junior Staff Experience of Undergraduate Teaching

Experience in Curriculum development and delivery

Management Experience Essential

Effective Team worker, valuing the experience and contributing Demonstrable Team Leadership skills and experience

Understanding and experience of delivering organisational change

Academic Achievements Desirable

Publications in recognised Medicine / Medical Education Journals or Presentations at National Level Research experience relating to quality improvement

Qualifications and Training Essential

Basic Medical Qualification (MB ChB/MBBS or equivalent) and FRCR equivalent Sub-speciality cardio-thoracic training and working experience in NHS. Competency in supervising cardiac imaging lists Completion of Specialty Training (CST or equivalent) or within 6 months of achieving it in relevant specialty

At least 2 years of working in radiology in NHS

High level Organisational Skills Communication Skills
