About this role

Job summary We are seeking a Pharmacy Production Technician to join our rapidly expanding team, delivering Ready to Administer IV medicines from our Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit at Moor House (LS10).

Main duties of the job The successful candidate will undertake a range of organisational, supervisory, and dispensing duties to support the delivery of high-quality clinical technical services to organisations across West Yorkshire. Responsibilities will primarily focus on the organisation and supervision of cleanroom activities, including the assembly and manufacture of aseptic pharmaceutical products.

This post does not carry line management responsibility, but you will contribute to the training and development of other staff within the department.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at a time of significant development. We are part of a national programme transforming aseptic services across England, with the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT) identified as a pathfinder site. Our growing service supports the development of a new state-of-the-art Aseptic Hub. Operating under a MHRA Specials licence, we are committed to supplying high-quality IV medicines to patients across West Yorkshire.

Applicants must hold either an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services with Aseptic/Production experience, an NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, a Level 3 Diploma in the Principles of Aseptic Pharmaceutical Processing (Science Manufacturing Technician), or training and experience to an equivalent level.

The Pharmacy Department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals is highly respected, forward thinking and recognised within the organisation for collaborative working.

The department is expanding and is in the process of building a new Pharmacy Aseptic Medicines Hub which is part of a national programme to transform aseptic services in England. WYAAT has been identified as a pathfinder site for the programme which will oversee the implementation and operation of a new aseptic facility to supply large volumes of injectable medicines to WYAAT organisations. What you will bring to the role In this role, you will work both collaboratively and independently using SOPs, GMP and COSHH guidelines, taking responsibility for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of aseptic staff and cleanroom activities. You will organise and prioritise workloads across assembly and preparation areas, supporting both routine and fast-track services, and ensure the safe and effective preparation, checking and supply of aseptic medicines.

You will demonstrate accuracy, dexterity and attention to detail when preparing and assembling medicines against orders, ensuring all documentation is completed in line with procedures. You will carry out in-process checks, post-process reconciliation, and ensure the quality and accuracy of medicinal products. A good understanding of protocols is essential, alongside the ability to assess situations, make sound decisions and escalate issues where appropriate.

You will also ensure the safe use and routine checking of cleanroom equipment, reporting faults and managing deviations in accordance with procedures. In addition, you will contribute to maintaining high standards by supporting colleagues, promoting best practice and ensuring compliance at all times.

The post is a full-time post of 37.5 hours per week; to be worked flexibly over a 4-day working week (Monday to Friday) but the post holder must be able work until 7pm as part of some of the shifts. You will also be expected to participate in Bank Holidays and Weekends on a rostered basis. The department aims to support flexible working arrangements where possible.
