Job summary
Ardleigh Surgery is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser or dispensary assistant into our busy practice, who will play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team. This role is offered on a part-time basis, for 25.5 hours per week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, plus cover for annual leave and sickness. The standard hours will be as follows: Monday: 10am 6pm Tuesday: 9am 1pm Thursday: 8am 1pm Friday: 8am 6.30pm.
Main duties of the job
Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme; Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor; Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient; Process Dossett boxes; Manage ordering stock and stock control; Answer and deal with dispensary phone enquiries; Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication; Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification; Training would be considered for the right candidate
Experience Essential
Excellent clinical and medication knowledge; Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in GP practice setting; The commitment to continue to learn new clinical skills and develop your career; The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making; The ability to be adaptable and flexible in your approach; Excellent patient facing inter-personal communication skills.
