Safety / Environment
· Adherence to site and company standards and procedures in HSEC while ensuring all duties are being performed in a manner that minimises risk to self and others.
· Assure that the highest standards of Environmental and Safety performance are adhered to within your area of responsibility.
· Maintain housekeeping at all times, safe work, incident/accident reporting & active involvement in safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
· Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed HSEC goals in support of the department, site and company standards and regulations.
Understand and familiarise oneself with site Emergency evacuation procedures
Company / Leadership
• Display conduct which is aligned with company Core Values, Policies and Procedures.
• Lead by example and actively participate to achieve department and company goals and objectives.
• Initiate and provide input into company directives in collaboration with the Site Management team.
• Communicate department obligations and conditions to the leadership team, ensuring specific understanding and accountability
• Provide Daily supervision of the underground workforce in conjunction with safely meeting daily production plans
Behaviour / Attitude
• Support and follow all lawful instructions/directives from direct supervisor.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and take responsibility for own conduct and behaviour in the workplace.
• Ensure clear and timely communication of department requirements and conditions to your supervisor and relevant stakeholders
Technical / Role Accountabilities
• Ensure the accurate and timely processing of all activities related to underground operations
• Ensure good understanding of technical drawings and mine design instructions.
• Comply with established methodologies and quality standards related to underground operations; where appropriate, recommend new/innovative or alternate approaches
• Monitor adherence to plans and initiate corrective actions related to operations, safety, and environmental affairs; respond to emergency situations according to established practices
• Appropriately escalate issues through to the Mine Captain or their designate .
Teamwork
• Communicate relevant information and data to other personnel through formalised leadership team meetings and work crew start of shift process flow.
• Attend and actively participate in scheduled operational process meetings and provide accurate information on problems, events and process changes..
• Identify specific areas that have the potential for improvement and cost savings.
• Participate in and utilise the change management process for identified problems and opportunities to make improvements
Planning & Organization
• Plan and execute work activities to meet production schedules and mining plans
• Prioritise and complete tasks accurately as to specifications as assigned by direct supervisor within required timeframes.
• Proactively identify and address hazards before they arise as issues.
• Be punctual to work and all required site meetings.
• Undertake other duties as lawfully instructed
Experience
• College or technical training equivalent to 3 years of study
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible mine production supervision experience
• Basic Ontario Hard Rock Common Core and Ontario Supervisory Common Core required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs is required.
• Mine Rescue experience is an asset.
• Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Complete knowledge of mining methods and operating practices
