Job Summary
Reporting to the Project & Field Services Manager, the Electronics Field Technologist plays a key role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of company products both in-house and in the field. This role is part of our R&D and Technology team, where you will collaborate with a small group of innovators to bring advanced systems to life. You will work hands-on with equipment and technology, ensuring systems are assembled, serviced, and maintained with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Installation
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to support system assembly and installation
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and system-related issues to maintain performance and minimize downtime
• Assemble and install electrical enclosures (AC/DC) and mechanical components to required specifications
• Use manual and power tools safely and effectively to build, install, and maintain equipment
• Perform installation, repair, and maintenance at various field sites
Design & Development Support
• Assist with the design and development of new systems within the R&D environment
• Create and modify technical drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks to support project requirements
Customer Support & Operations
• Provide technical support to clients via phone, email, chat, or other communication channels
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues in a timely and effective manner
• Commission and configure systems remotely, ensuring proper functionality and client satisfaction
• Fulfill customer orders by preparing, packing, and completing all required documentation accurately
• Maintain adherence to safety procedures, company policies, and industry standards
• Travel to job sites as required to support operational and customer needs
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support business objectives
Qualifications
• Post-secondary education in Engineering or a related field, or a minimum of 2 years of equivalent hands-on experience
• Valid G Class driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
• Proficiency in operating electrical, manual, and power tools and equipment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills preferred)
• Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) is considered an asset
• Experience with SolidWorks 3D is considered an asset
• Strong time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and support clients
• Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong desire to learn, grow, and be coached
• Willingness and flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends (approximately once or twice per year)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
• Combination of in-house and field-based work
• Based out of Vaughan, with regular travel required to various job sites across Southern Ontario
• Occasional evening or weekend work
