Role Overview
As JNS expands its Hebrew-language presence, we are seeking a versatile Hebrew Correspondent & Assistant Editor. This role combines original reporting and storytelling with hands-on support for digital site management. You will work closely with the Hebrew Editor & Site Manager to ensure a continuous, high-quality flow of news, while helping maintain the backend and optimization of our digital platform.
Reports directly to the Hebrew Editor
Key Responsibilities
• News Reporting: Write original news stories, briefs, and features focused on Israel and the Jewish world.
• Translation & Editing: Translate and localize complex news items and commentary from the English desk into natural Hebrew.
• Quality Control: Review published content to spot and correct formatting errors, broken links, or editorial typos.
• Audience Engagement: Support the distribution of stories via newsletters and social media channels to boost traffic
Skills & Experience
• Journalism Experience: Proven track record in reporting, writing, or editing for a digital news outlet.
• Language Skills: Native Hebrew speaker with exceptional writing skills and professional working proficiency in English.
• Digital Savvy: Basic understanding of SEO, web formatting, and audience engagement metrics.
• Adaptability: Ability to multi-task between writing and technical site duties in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to Detail: High standards for factual accuracy, grammatical correctness, and visual presentation.
• Advantage; Tech & CMS Literacy: Prior experience working within WordPress or similar content management systems is highly preferred.
