Description
In line with our values of collaboration and integrity, we are seeking a positive and energetic financial controller to contribute to the success of our organization. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial Controller plays a key role in the organization's financial management. He or she contributes to the reliability of financial information, the optimization of processes, and the rigorous monitoring of projects.
Responsibilities/Challenges:
• Responsible for day-to-day accounting activities (month-end closing, reconciliations, journal entries);
• Validate terms and conditions of revenue contracts; set up revenue contracts and financial projects in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system; coordinate invoicing; prepare claims for government contracts;
• Ensure the preparation of financial statements and management reports;
• Participate in budget development and budget monitoring;
• Ensure financial monitoring of projects (revenue, costs, margins);
• Manage and optimize project-based accounting processes;
• Collaborate with internal teams to monitor various funding sources;
• Ensure the completion of financial audits and regulatory compliance;
• Ensure the application of and compliance with current accounting standards;
• Manage commercial insurance;
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions;
• Produce financial analyses to support strategic decision-making;
• Implement and improve internal controls;
• Support the finance team in all projects;
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field;
• At least 7 years of experience;
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation;
• Experience in project-based financial management or in a multi-funding environment (strong asset);
• Knowledge of ERP systems such as Netsuite (a significant asset);
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP function);
• Expertise in process documentation.
• Bilingualism required due to Canada-wide responsibilities
