About this role

Job Duties:

• Maintain constant, vigilant surveillance of all pool and waterfront activity, proactively identifying and addressing potential hazards

• Enforce pool regulations and water safety policies with professionalism and courtesy, consistent with Forbes Five-Star service standards

• Respond swiftly and confidently to emergencies, including performing water rescues, administering first aid, CPR, and artificial respiration as needed

• Maintain the pool area in immaculate condition at all times, ensuring equipment is organized, safety-ready, and reflective of our resort standards

• Communicate safety guidelines to guests in a warm, respectful manner that embodies Wequassett's commitment to gracious hospitality

• Assist with aquatics programming, including swimming fundamentals instruction, as directed

• Partner with the broader Recreation team to contribute to a seamless, elevated guest experience across our pools, beaches, and waterfront amenities

Qualifications:

• Current Lifeguard certification required (American Red Cross or equivalent); CPR/AED and First Aid certification required

• Prior experience in a luxury resort, hotel, or upscale aquatics setting strongly preferred

• A calm, confident, and alert presence with strong situational awareness

• A genuinely pleasant and accommodating demeanor — someone who understands that safety and hospitality are not mutually exclusive

• Professional appearance and the ability to represent the Wequassett brand with pride

• Ability to remain focused and attentive throughout extended periods of surveillance

Physical Requirements

• Ability to swim proficiently and perform water rescues in a variety of conditions

• Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods while maintaining full alertness and attention

• Ability to react quickly and move with urgency in emergency situations

• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including direct sun and heat for extended periods

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds (rescue equipment, guests in an emergency)

• Strong vision and hearing required to monitor a wide aquatic environment effectively

• Ability to perform CPR and physically demanding rescue techniques for sustained periods if necessary

Rate of Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 / hour
