Summary
Counterpart International is seeking a Driver for the USAID-funded Promoting Advocacy & Rights (PAR) project in Bangladesh. The Promoting Advocacy and Rights (PAR) activity project will create a more inclusive, resilient, and evidence-driven Bangladeshi civil society (CS). By the end of the project, CS will have the skills, technology, financial resources, and connections to global networks that will enable it to work in partnership with the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) to advance good governance. The driver will report to the Human Resources, Office and Security Manager. The Driver position will be based in Dhaka.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Drive a vehicle providing reliable and secure transportation to project authorized personnel, its visitors and guests;
• Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, check of lights, windshield wipers, etc.
• Ensure that both inside and outside of vehicle is clean and presentable at all times;
• Ensure that each vehicle is carrying a Vehicle Log Sheet, a map of Bangladesh, First Aid Kit, Fire Extinguisher, Tools box, Spare Wheel, Jack & Tire Chains;
• Ensure that all safety belts are functional and all passengers wearing safety belts before moving vehicle
• Purchase fuel for vehicles as directed by the supervisor;
• Maintain daily records of mileage in the log book;
• Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
• Maintain constant contact with office at all times & especially in case of emergency;
• Interact with passengers in a courteous and polite manner.
• Perform other work-related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 2-3 years of prior driving experience for international/national NGO /development program;
• Current valid driver's license for the class of vehicle and safe driving record for at least 5 years;
• Skilled to drive a manual transmission vehicle
• Good communication skills; friendly personality;
• Familiarity with Bangladesh roads/geography/regions/provinces;
• Minimum of post primary education level completed (with certificate);
• Oral and written knowledge of English and local languages is required;
• Elementary knowledge of mechanics required;
• Good fitness (physical condition);
• Willingness to work long or unusual hours/week-ends unexpectedly in order to meet goals and objectives;
• Bangladesh citizenship is required
• Knowledge of the use of 4x4 and HF /VHF radios is an asset;
• Experience with logistics strongly encouraged;
• Previous defensive Driver training preferred
