<p><strong>About the Role</strong></p> <p>We are looking for a talented Educational Consultant to join our team who will be responsible for maintaining existing sales and prospect new opportunities within assigned territories across Japan; and to provide consultation service to customers, in order to grow sales and develop the OUP brand in the market.</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Institutional visiting</strong></p> <ul> <li>Contact customers by direct visiting, virtual meetings, phone and email to assess needs, position appropriate materials and close sales.</li> <li>Maintain existing institutional adoptions and prospect new sales by setting up and executing appropriate visits and events (e.g. presentations, teacher training and book fairs) in your territories, within budget.</li> <li>Plan activities for each year by month and week. Report on this plan each month in 1:1 meetings to inform your manager of your activity and reflect on your performance.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Key account management</strong></p> <ul> <li>Identify new prospects and develop existing accounts to build long-term business partnerships and grow market share.</li> <li>Position integrated offers of materials and services to create market-leading educational solutions.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>CRM database management</strong></p> <ul> <li>Timely and accurate input and update of institution, contact and adoption data in CRM database.</li> <li>Data extraction and manipulation to enable planning and reporting of sales activity.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Event attendance</strong></p> <ul> <li>Attend large promotional events like JALT national conference and Oxford Teachers Workshops.</li> <li>Organise and attend small promotional events in own territories.</li> <li>Staff smaller events organised by Marketing as required.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Product knowledge</strong></p> <ul> <li>Ensure excellent product knowledge of OUP ELT materials both through training provided and own product study.</li> <li>Build knowledge of competitor ELT materials both through training provided and own product study.</li> <li>Maintain knowledge of current ELT pedagogy both through training provided and own study.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Market knowledge</strong></p> <ul> <li>Research territories to be aware of existing and potential adoptions and new business opportunities.</li> <li>Be aware of general market trends, conditions, activities and opportunities</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Customer service</strong></p> <ul> <li>At all times maintain an appropriate, professional relationship with customers, ensuring a positive image of OUP and of you as the company representative.</li> <li>Business attire at all times in the presence of customers. When customers are not present dress code is business casual.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Trade visiting</strong></p> <ul> <li>Visit university bookshops to obtain adoption data and maintain customer relations.</li> <li>Contact booksellers to confirm adoptions and provide post-adoption support where required.</li> <li>Occasional bookshop and distributor visiting in local territories.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>About You</strong></p> <p><strong>Essential:</strong></p> <ul style="list-style-type:disc"> <li>Experience of and interest in English language education</li> <li>Bachelor degree or above</li> <li>Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Japanese</li> <li>Proficient in MS Office</li> <li>Able to demonstrate initiative, work independently and challenge oneself</li> <li>Holder of valid driving licence</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Desirable:</strong></p> <ul style="list-style-type:disc"> <li>Knowledge of ELT market/publishing industry in Japan preferred </li> </ul>
