About this role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and analytical Actuarial Analyst to join our team in New York City, diving deep into data to produce crucial reserve analysis for our growing Car Insurance product.

This role is critical right now, as you will directly help us set accurate monthly reserves, which impacts our financial health and product development. You’ll be a key collaborator, working closely with Insurance Product managers, Claims, Finance, Pricing & Reserving Actuaries, and Data Scientists to opine on the health of our book of business as it rapidly develops.

In this role you'llDevelop and own detailed reserve estimates for our dynamic Car Insurance product, providing key insights to leadership

Present monthly reserving results and compelling explanations of trends to leaders across the company, translating complex actuarial concepts into clear business insights

Investigate and opine on internal or external trends—including regulatory changes and claims patterns—that impact our reserves, acting as a critical risk control

Properly document all selections, assumptions, and methodologies in your analyses, ensuring full transparency and compliance

Leverage your analytical and modeling skills to automate and streamline current reserving processes and reporting, moving the team toward greater efficiency

Actively pursue your actuarial education through CAS exams and industry research, immediately applying those learnings to improve our work and grow your career

What you'll need1+ years of P&C actuarial experience, including hands-on work with reserving techniques

Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field

General knowledge of data science programming languages such as R (preferred) or Python, and proficiency in database query tools such as SQL

A strong analytical mind, with the curiosity and communication skills to investigate and explain complex data trends to both technical and non-technical audiences

Progress toward CAS exams is a significant plus

Ability to work in an office environment a minimum of 3 days a week

Lemonade's US base salary range for this full-time position is $80,000 - $97,500 plus equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
