*Job Title: Senior Accountant (Contract)*
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Controller
About the Job: The Senior Accountant works closely with the Financial Controller along with the rest of the Finance team. The professional is responsible for all aspects of financial management, including maintaining data and accuracy using accounting systems, and supporting the multitude of roles within the Finance team. This position represents a current, existing vacancy within the organization.
Compensation: The expected salary range for this role is $80,000 ? $100,000 per annum, based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support month-end closing procedures along with quarterly financial statement reporting of the entities within the organization
2. Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual reconciliations and invoicing pertaining to revenue collections and movement within trust and operating banks
3. Prepare journal entries as required for specified transactions and expense accruals along with inter-company reconciliations
4. Complete balance sheet reconciliations as required
5. Take initiative in performing variance analysis for both revenues and expenses
6. Support the audit and fiscal year end processes
7. Complete and monitor corporate insurance applications and supporting documentation as needed
8. Review and approve journal entries coming from junior team members
9. Support and backfill the Intermediate Accountant position pertaining to daily bank checks and investment cash balancing against NAV and bank
10. Support Controller & CFO with various ad hoc projects
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
* CPA candidate or designation * Analytical skills and judgement to independently solve problems * 3 years progressive experience in the accounting field * Financial services and/or insurance experience an asset * Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central (NAV) considered an asset * Willingness to embrace change and explore alternatives in a constantly changing environment * Ability to build bridges and network across the organization * Excellent verbal, written communication, research, and interpersonal skills * Advanced computer skills, particularly in Excel
Work Environment:
- Hybrid model: Work from home and the office
- Attend Toronto office as needed in accordance with company policy
Pay: $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
