Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. Work site environment: Dusty. Noisy. Work setting: Sheet metal fabrication shop. Metal products manufacturing company. Tasks: Operate metal cleaning equipment to remove excess welds, rust, scale and other materials from surfaces of metal products. Transport raw materials, finished products and equipment throughout plant manually . Assist structural steel and platework fitters, sheet metal workers, metal machine operators or other metal workers. Sort metal sheets and parts, scrap metal and other materials. Grind or chip excess metal from metal products using hand tools. Clean machines and immediate work areas. Polish metal products to mirror finish. Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces. Clean, polish, file or otherwise finish products. Surface preparation methods: Sandblasters. Type of operation: Grinding. Equipment and machinery experience: Deburrer. Hand truck. Polishers.
