This person will report to the Manager of CommunitySupports Services with NL Health Services -Central Zone.This Social Work Assistant will assist Community Support Social Workers in thecommunity setting by providing interventions of a practical and concrete nature.These interventions include but are not limited to, Special Assistance Ordersincluding health supplies, equipment and oxygen, completing financialassessments and liaising with community and government resources on behalf ofclients. This work involves client and family interviews and consultations with avariety of agencies and staff, in person and by telephone. The Social WorkAssistant will support Community Support Social Workers with scheduling,telephone calls and completion of assigned monitoring visits to clients in theirhomes and personal care homes. The Social Work Assistant workscollaboratively as part of a team and may conduct independent visits to clientsunder the direction of the Community Support Social Worker. Writtencorrespondence and documentation, as well as support in compiling reports andstatistical information for the social worker may also be required.Required Qualifications:? Minimum 3 year completion of a post-secondary diploma in socialsciences.? Consideration may be given to candidates who have completed two yearspost-secondary training at the university level in an area of socialsciences.? Experience in a health setting or community setting with demonstratedability to deal effectively with the public.? Hold a valid Class 5 Driver?s License and the use of a personal vehicle forwork purposes.? Ability to receive direction, accept delegated tasks and perform thesecollaboratively or independently.Preferred qualifications:? Knowledge of the community supports program and agencies which maybe involved in supporting clients and families.? Minimum 2 years experience as a social work assistant, social servicesworker or area of community supports.? Strong analytical and organizational skills
