About this role
Education: No degree, certificate or diploma. Work site environment: Hog and pig farming. Dusty. Noisy. Odours. Work setting: Rural area. Staff accommodation provided. Tasks: Disinfect pens, barns or poultry houses. Handling animals. Marking livestock as proof of ownership. Monitoring animal health. Perform livestock feeding. Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration. Feed and tend animals. Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed. Maintain livestock performance records. Clean stables, barns, barnyards and pens. Maintain work records and logs. Detect disease and health problems in crops, livestock and poultry. Perform general farm duties. Set and monitor water lines, air flow and temperature in barns, pens and chicken coops. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Physically demanding. Repetitive tasks. Handling heavy loads. Standing for extended periods. Experience: Will train.
