This engineer will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams including optical, mechanical, metrology, and software engineers to develop and support precision test equipment used to evaluate complex optical systems. Day to Day Responsibilities <ul type="disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Support engineers in specifying and documenting hardware requirements for optical test stations.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Design and document assemblies used to build optical test bench automation and control systems, including motor, detector, camera, data acquisition, and timing circuitry and associated wiring and cable assemblies.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Translate designs into working hardware by building prototype or breadboard assemblies and coordinating outsourced fabrication of sub-systems as needed.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Troubleshoot electrical, wiring, and system integration issues on existing test benches, and repair or upgrade benches as appropriate.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Perform work in cleanroom and molecular cleanroom environments.</li> </ul> Required Qualifications <ul type="disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">MS or 2+ years of applicable experience</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Strong foundation in AC/DC circuits, basic electronics, and electrical measurements.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Experience using electronics test equipment such as digital multimeters and oscilloscopes.</li> </ul> <ul type="disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Experience with schematic capture and printed circuit board (PCB) layout.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Understanding of motors, control systems, and data acquisition hardware and software.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Experience programming using C / C++ or C#.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Experience programming or script development using Python or MATLAB.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Good written and verbal communication skills.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.</li> </ul> Desired Qualifications <ul type="disc"> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Experience in circuit design with Altium Designer.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Experience with interfacing with scientific digital cameras.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Familiarity with optics, optical metrology, and image processing.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Familiarity with Linux / Unix environments.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Experience with SQL databases.</li> <li style="font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:14.0pt">Familiarity with National Instruments’ LabWindows.</li> </ul> This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $84,010.00 - $115,515.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
