The Aftersales Mechanical Engineer will work on prioritized field issues to develop/design solutions improving customer uptime and satisfaction. Job Functions / Responsibilities <ul> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Participate in the design of heavy-duty trucks within the Aftersales Engineering group, with a focus on improving field reliability and quality.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Analyze and troubleshoot field failures to find the root cause of symptoms in vehicle systems.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Perform the design and development of assigned elements for: hoods, fittings, chassis, suspension, engine and after treatment systems.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Provide interface documentation to wiring design, system architect(s), and mechanical design groups.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Contribute to development of procedures and practices that ensure quality and reliable systems.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">In-depth analysis of warranty data to support issue identification and root cause analysis.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Experience in using data to identify priorities and the drive to meet and exceed department and division goals</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Integrate components, features, and requirements into Kenworth/PACCAR vehicles. </li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Manage suppliers, engineering, and project management process to maintain schedule, quality and functionality.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Track and report on progress toward warranty and downtime reduction goals</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Plan and track validation testing of components.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Support solution launches at vehicle assembly plants. </li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Ensure industry leading quality and reliability is met, maintained, and exceeded on all components. </li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Apply creativity to design tasks and propose innovative approaches to standard work.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Work with cross functional teams on warranty reduction project initiation, design, validation, product release, and field support.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Work through the Product Creation Process utilizing Tollgate to manage projects, report updates and utilize Six Sigma methodologies.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Manage multiple priorities and goals simultaneously.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Utilize Creo Parametric to create optimized parts and complex assemblies.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Up to 10% travel. </li> </ul> Qualifications: <ul> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">BSME or equivalent engineering degree required.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Master’s degree in engineering and P.E. certificate are always a plus</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">3-5+ years of experience required in the specification and design of complex automotive or commercial vehicle systems or industry-related background is strongly desired. </li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Proficiency using Requirements Management tools, Systems Engineering tools, Pro/E or other 3D CAD software also desired. </li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Competence in the use of personal computer software such as word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Engineering knowledge of heavy-duty commercial truck safety systems, regulations, especially in the areas of operating, service, and performance environments.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Experience creating engineering documentation including preparation of component drawings and diagrams.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Experience responding to Requests for Engineering Information, writing Engineering Change Notices, test coordination, support for production, and customer service.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Knowledge or understanding of SQL/databases.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Solid understanding of Design for Six Sigma and Six Sigma techniques.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Willing to learn and use new engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Experience in product development and new product implementation.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Able to work in a team environment.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Experience with project management tools, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.</li> <li style="font-size:12.0pt">Willingness to grow personally and professionally.
