Get started! Requisition Summary The role is based at Magna Drive in Piedmont, South Carolina , while remaining a full-time employee of PACCAR. Peterbilt Motors Company seeks an experienced Advance Manufacturing Engineer to be located in Piedmont, South Carolina and serve as a strategic liaison between PACCAR Engineering and our manufacturing partner. This role supports the Kenworth and Peterbilt truck brands across all North American manufacturing facilities by interacting with the supplier and the PACCAR teams. The successful candidate will facilitate cross-organizational collaboration, drive technical alignment, and ensure seamless coordination between PACCAR divisions and the external supplier. This position requires a self-directed professional with exceptional communication skills, demonstrated project leadership, and the ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics at senior levels. The role demands adaptability, as priorities frequently shift in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Job Responsibilities Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication Serve as the primary, onsite liaison between PACCAR Engineering, supplier engineering, and the manufacturing teams. Provide support for supplier management and materials department activities within the SDI team as needed. Facilitate effective communication and technical coordination to ensure alignment on requirements and program objectives. Engage with executives and senior management across organizations, translating complex technical information for diverse audiences. Identify and mobilize appropriate subject matter experts and decision makers to resolve issues and accelerate progress. Engineering & Design Support Provide technical expertise on new and sustaining product designs and systems to cross-functional teams. Review proposed engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommend Design For Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) revisions. Read, interpret, and validate engineering drawings to support design reviews, manufacturing feasibility assessments, and drawing management. Product Development & Quality Actively participate in new product development and launch processes. Monitor product qualification testing schedules and coordinate with test teams to mitigate delays. Provide on-site support during pilot build activities at supplier manufacturing facilities. Investigate and implement process and equipment enhancements to improve quality, optimize efficiency, increase productivity, safety, and reduce costs. Job Responsibilities Cont. Manufacturing Operations Review supplier labor studies and support production and line balancing initiatives. Coordinate supplier capital tooling development and associated budget proposals. Maintain proficiency in robotic assembly, aluminum stamping, e-coating processes, and Class-A surface quality standards and defect causes. Host and facilitate quarterly leadership meetings. Continuous Improvement Champion technology-based systems adoption to enhance quality initiatives related to option complexity and part traceability. Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives using Six Sigma methodologies. Proactively identify opportunities for operational enhancement and cost reduction. General Responsibilities Maintain current knowledge of upcoming changes affecting supplier and manufacturing operations. Keep customers, managers, and peers informed of progress, activities, challenges, and opportunities. Estimated travel: 5% (domestic and international). Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field. Minimum 8 years of manufacturing, tooling, industrial, and/or design engineering experience. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects and deliver measurable results. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree or specialization in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering. Project Management certification or equivalent experience. Six Sigma certification (DFSS, Lean, Green Belt, or Black Belt). Tooling process expertise. Proficiency with Creo Parametric. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote). Demonstrated experience with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) methodologies. Knowledge of robotic automation systems. Experience with AI technologies, machine learning models, and data analytics tools.
