Job Description
• Provide basic nursing care that aligns with the vision, mission, philosophy, goals, and objectives of the nursing services and the hospital. • Notify the nursing leaders of any situations that impact the quality of care. • Obtain unit report and assignment at the beginning of each shift and perform additional tasks as assigned by the Unit Manager or Senior Registered Nurse. • Perform thorough cleaning each morning, including sanitizing operating tables, lamps, and others. • Inspect supplies and gas cylinders to ensure their safety and guarantee well-stocked anesthesia machine. • Transport patients from the ward, transporting the patient to the induction room, and assisting the patient until they are evaluated by an anesthetist. • Transport patients to the operating room and assist in their safe lifting onto the operating table. • Provide assistance to the anesthetist, adjust the operating light according to the surgeon's instructions, and consistently maintain the sterility and cleanliness of the operating theatre. • Transport the patient to the recovery room and assist in their comfort. • Conducts regular nursing rounds to assess patients’ needs and communicate with them and their families. • Perform cleaning of the floors, operating tables, walls, and lamps, as well as disinfection of the operating theatre (OT) and scrub room after each procedure. • Conduct weekly cleaning of the entire unit to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. • Keeps the unit, store, fridge and its facilities clean and tidy. • Collect pharmacy and surgical supplies from pharmacy and the store as required to maintain adequate stock levels for operations. • Answer phone calls and relay messages. • Attendants to patients call the bell promptly. • Ensure portable oxygen continuous supply for emergency needs. • Carried out of basic nursing care, such as patient comfort, safety, nutrition, hygiene, transfer, dressing, intravenous lines, catheterization, etc. • Cleans and disinfects the trolley and instruments after use and stores them properly. • Records the daily charges for the items used in the unit and updates the patients’ charges accordingly. • Lifts, turns, and positions patients safely using the correct body mechanics. • Accompanies the consultant or anesthetist in performing procedures and involve in all activities in operation theatre in the absence of trained staff. • Receive and inspect returned sets from wards. • Distribute sterilized sets on an exchange basis. • Clean and dry various instruments. • Inspect the instruments are functional and sets are complete. • Prepare and label sets for sterilization. • Uphold cleanliness in workspaces, including sinks, tables, and trolleys. • Keep the linen store and stock areas tidy and well-organized. • Assist in inventory management for linen and instruments. • Procure necessary solutions, tapes, sutures, and instruments from the store.
Requirements
• Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia • Certified healthcare assistants would be a priority. • Experience working in a hospital setting is an advantage
