THE OPPORTUNITY

Join our Sydney Claims Treatment Team in this newly created specialist role, where you'll combine your clinical expertise with strategic advisory support to improve recovery and return-to-work outcomes for workers following psychological injury. This role is ideal for a registered psychologist looking to apply their formulation and advisory skills within a personal injury setting. It would also be suited to a psychologist with experience in occupational rehabilitation, injury management, or return-to-work services who is looking to transition into an insurance-based role.

Working closely with claim’s stakeholders, you will utilise your practical experience to provide expert guidance on psychological injury management, diagnosis, treatment planning, and recovery pathways. You will review psychological treatment interventions against best-practice principles and SIRA's Clinical Framework for the Delivery of Health Services, ensuring treatment remains targeted, outcome-focused, and aligned to recovery goals. You will also engage directly with treating psychologists and other providers to influence recovery outcomes. You will confidently communicate, negotiate and guide treatment direction, ensuring plans are aligned to best practice while providing education where needed.

The role also offers opportunities to contribute to multidisciplinary case discussions, deliver clinical education and capability uplift initiatives, and influence the development of best-practice treatment approaches across psychological claims management.

This is a dynamic role suited to someone who is adaptable, solutions focused and proactive in identifying opportunities to enhance outcomes and enjoys driving continuous improvement.

This will be a full time, 18 month secondment/contract position based in our Sydney office, with work-from-home flexibility (up to 3 days per week) considered from month three, subject to performance and approval.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Engage with GPs and treatment providers including treating psychologists to optimise diagnosis, treatment planning, and recovery outcomes.

• Complete file reviews to provide expert psychological opinion on treatment progress and injury recovery.

• Identify the need for additional medical opinion and services, such as Independent Medical Examinations.

• Deliver training, coaching and education to internal and external stakeholders to support best practice psychological injury management.

ABOUT YOU

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology

• Current AHPRA registration

• Demonstrated 3+years clinical experience as a registered psychologist

• Well established knowledge of disability and injury management best practice.

• Comprehensive understanding and demonstrated experience working in the personal injury industry preferred, with experience with the workers compensation insurance and legislation desirable.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels

• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft office suite
