The IfNSW business unit is looking for a Psychological Eligibility Specialist to join our newly established Psychological Eligibility team to support high-quality, timely decision-making on psychological injury claims within the new legislative and regulatory framework.
The Psychological Eligibility Specialists sit at the centre of our new approach to supporting psychological injury claims under the new legislative and regulatory framework implemented on 1 July 2026 and will give you the opportunity to influence decision-making standards across the Insurance for NSW Scheme.
We’re now welcoming applications for a Psychological Eligibility Specialist to join our supportive, purpose‑driven team in Sydney. This will be a Fulltime Secondment until 25 June 2027. This is deeply meaningful work where your empathy, problem‑solving and commitment have a profound impact every single day.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Build specialised capability in early psychological injury claim assessment • Work closely with Case Managers to uplift their skills and confidence in applying new legislative requirements – particularly in relation to liability decision-making • Contribute to the way legislation is interpreted and applied, ensuring consistency across all agencies and CSPs and improving overall outcomes for the scheme • you will play a critical and active role in conducting early initial reviews of psychological injury claims, leading and endorsing liability decision-making within a shortened liability determination period • contributing to the uplift of skills and capability of our frontline teams to apply these new elements of legislation. • You may also work closely and engage with, relevant NSW government agencies to support shared understanding and interpretation of legislative requirements.
What We’re Looking For
• To apply for this role you will have experience from one of the following roles: Team Leader, Technical Specialist, Technical and Injury Management Specialist, Case Manager Level 3 or 4 (NI) Senior Case Manager (IfNSW) • Advanced knowledge of workers’ compensation, injury management, and claims processes • Excellent stakeholder management, including liaising with injured workers, employers, medical professionals, and insurers • Confidence in providing guidance, coaching, and technical support to others
