Annual Salary: $61,152.00 - $64,194.00 Hourly: $31.36 - $32.92 Department: Public Service, Public Service Division: Streets & Sidewalks FLSA: Non-Exempt Job Description: In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of working crews engaged in construction and maintenance projects on public property, streets, sidewalks or rights-of-way using a variety of machines, tools and equipment.
Examples of Duties:
• Supervises the work of the crews by visiting the worksites to ensure that the work is being completed safely, accurately and efficiently. • Assigns daily work orders to the crew. • Plans and estimates the materials and hours needed to complete jobs. • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. • Interprets City policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality. • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew. • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. • Inspects work areas to determine type of work required and materials and equipment to be used. • Maintains time and production records. • Prepares required reports. • May operate motor equipment such as tractors, front-end loaders and dump trucks. • Performs activities of workers supervised. • Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
• Associate’s Degree (AA/AS) and 2 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Valid SC Commercial Driver’s License – Class B.
Other Necessary Requirements:
• In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
