Description of Post
Atlantic Technological University (ATU) has secured funding from Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Fund programme to develop a technology for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS) is caused by a blood clot in a brain vessel, in the absence of immediate treatment leading to disability or death. ATU technology will provide physicians a solution which will significantly increase the success of first pass thrombectomy procedures using a novel technology that will not injure the blood vessel. ATU in collaboration with Enterprise Ireland wish to put in place a Commercial team who will oversee the development and commercialisation of this technology via an ATU spin out that intends to secure funding to expand with crucial expertise. Key member of this team will be the Technical Lead who will oversee the:
Development of the prototype build and testing. Development and execution of a pre-clinical study. Development of investor ready business plan and viable route to market. Engagement and direction in regulatory path from notified bodies. Development of KOL networks in key markets, early adopters and clinical trial sites. IP generation and strategy.
Essential Qualifications
Level 8 degree (Hons) in Engineering, Science or cognate area. Strong track record of working with the MedTech and/or Life Sciences sectors with a minimum 10+ years’ industry experience. Experience of working with clients, of managing the client interface, and of developing and agreeing high quality project proposals and/or quotations, in conjunction with R&D colleagues, and in response to client requirements. Experience of participation in successful inter-disciplinary research programmes. Strong team leadership and project management skills. Budget management skills, administration, reporting, strategic and resource planning skills. Excellent team working, interpersonal, communications and presentation skills particularly in relation to dealing with senior personnel from industry, agencies and internal stakeholders. Self-starter – ability to work on own initiative within clearly defined guidelines. -time research after a primary degree.
