About us
UCL Careers provides careers education to current students, graduates and research staff of UCL, as well as recruitment solutions for employers. Most careers support for undergraduate and taught postgraduate students delivered within faculties and departments is managed by three careers teams that work with faculty groupings:
SLMS “The Faculties of Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, Population Health Sciences and Brain Sciences”, BEAMS “The Faculties of The Built Environment, Engineering and Maths and Physical Sciences” SLASH & IOE “The Faculties of Arts and Humanities and Social and Historical Sciences and The UCL Institute of Education”.
About the role
Each Careers Consultant will work within one of the three Careers teams. A separate Job Description is provided for each of these team-specific roles. You will join an existing team developing and delivering careers education programmes to the students. In addition, the you'll conduct 1:1 careers guidance appointments and work collaboratively on a range of projects.
You'll need a passion for mentoring / coaching others, and for supporting personal development. There will be lots of work with internal and external colleagues and stakeholders, so confidence in, and the enjoyment of, developing relationships and partnership working is important, as well as the ability to plan, lead on and manage areas of work to a high standard and agreed objectives / outcomes.
About you
You should be a confident presenter and facilitator and enjoy running group sessions as well as working with students 1:1. You should enjoy, and have experience of, work with a range of stakeholders so that you are well equipped to work closely with students, academic staff, support staff and employers.
Previous work experience within higher education would be advantageous.
