About this role

The Senior Legal Counsel provides strategic legal advice and leadership to Experian in all legal matters. You will be a trusted advisor to senior management, lead complex legal projects, and ensure that Experian operates in compliance with national and international laws. We ask that you have expertise in international business law, contract law, data protection law, and experience managing high-stakes legal matters across multiple jurisdictions. You will report to Legal and Compliance Director in Germany. This is a hybrid position.

Main responsibilities:

Strategic legal advice: Advising senior management and partners on complex legal issues, with a focus on risk management, commercial strategy, and regulatory complianceContract management: Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex national and international contracts, including high-value supply, distribution, service, and license agreementsRisk management: assess, and mitigating legal and business risks; develop company-wide risk management strategiesDispute resolution: Manage legal disputes, coordinating external counsel, and representing us in high-profile proceedingsData protection: Lead data protection projects, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other data protection regulations, and advising on cross-border data transfer issuesDesign training for management and legal teams; mentor junior legal staffInternational coordination: Guide understanding of legal strategy across international subsidiaries and being a necessary liaison for global legal mattersProject leadership: Lead or overseeing major legal projects and due diligence processes in M&A, restructuring, or other strategic projectsProvide legal support to procurement and supplier management processes, including contract negotiations with third-party vendors and advising on compliance with internal policies. Completed university degree in law (state examination) and license as a qualified lawyer; additional qualifications in international business law or compliance are a advantage+7 years of professional experience in an international company or a law firm; experience advising executive leadership and managing multinational legal teamsKnowledge of German and international commercial law, including contract law, data protection law, compliance, and regulatory mattersManage complex projects and provide pragmatic, business-oriented solutionsFluency in written and spoken German and English is mandatory; additional language skills are an advantage Benefits/Perks:
