Knutsford Medical Partnership is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Research Delivery Nurse to join our expanding research team and support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of research studies and clinical trials.

Working alongside our Research Projects Manager and experienced clinicians, investigators and practice teams, you will play a key role in bringing research opportunities to patients within Knutsford and the surrounding community.

Main duties of the job

As a Research Delivery Nurse at Knutsford Medical Partnership, you will play a key role in delivering a portfolio of clinical research studies within a primary care setting. You will support participant recruitment, coordinate study visits, undertake clinical procedures, maintain study documentation and ensure research is delivered in line with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Identify, screen and recruit eligible patients into research studies.Obtain informed consent in accordance with study protocols and ethical standards.Coordinate and conduct research study visits.Perform clinical assessments and study-related procedures, including venepuncture and sample collection.Process and arrange shipment of biological samples.Administer investigational medicinal products and vaccines where appropriately trained.Accurately record research data and maintain essential study documentation.Support monitoring visits, audits, and inspections.Work collaboratively with investigators, practice teams, sponsors, and research networks.Promote research opportunities and support patient engagement in research.Ensure all research activities comply with practice policies, GCP, and regulatory requirements.

Job description Job responsibilities

Knutsford Medical Partnership (KMP) is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Research Delivery Nurse to join our growing research team and support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of clinical research studies within primary care.

You will work closely with the Research Projects Manager, Principal Investigators, research coordinators and wider research teams to help deliver high-quality studies in line with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), regulatory requirements, and local procedures.

This is a varied and rewarding role involving participant recruitment, informed consent, clinical assessments, sample collection and processing, administration of investigational medicinal products where appropriate, accurate study documentation, data collection and participant follow-up.

The post is primarily based at our Toft Road Site with some travel to other KMP sites across Knutsford.

Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesResearch Delivery and Participant Care

Support the delivery of research studies in line with study protocols, SOPs, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and relevant legislation.

Identify, screen and recruit eligible patients into research studies.

Support participant retention and follow-up throughout their involvement in studies.

Obtain informed consent where appropriately trained and delegated.

Carry out study visits and research assessments in line with protocol requirements.

Ensure participants receive safe, high-quality and compassionate care.

Clinical Procedures and Study Treatments

Perform clinical procedures including venepuncture, observations and sample collection.

Administer investigational medicinal products and study interventions where appropriately trained and delegated.

Monitor participant safety and escalate any concerns promptly to the Principal Investigator or appropriate clinician.

Report adverse events and protocol deviations in line with study requirements.

Data, Documentation and Compliance

Maintain accurate, timely and complete study records.

Complete electronic and paper-based case report forms and data entry systems.

Maintain investigator site files and essential study documentation.

Ensure compliance with sponsor requirements, regulatory standards and information governance policies.

Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Study Coordination and Support

Support study set-up activities including feasibility work, site initiation visits and study close-down processes.

Assist with monitoring visits, audits and inspections.

Maintain screening logs, delegation logs and recruitment trackers.

Sample Handling

Collect, process, package and arrange shipment of biological samples in line with study protocols.

Ensure all samples are handled, stored and documented safely and appropriately.

Teamwork and Engagement

Work collaboratively with clinicians, investigators, research teams, sponsors and partner organisations.

Build positive relationships with participants to ensure a supportive research experience.

Represent Knutsford Medical Partnership professionally within research networks.

Help promote awareness of research opportunities within the practice and local community. Professional Development

Maintain NMC registration and professional competence.

Complete and maintain Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training.

Participate in mandatory training, appraisal and ongoing development.

Stay up to date with developments in clinical research and best practice.

Contribute to quality improvement and development of research processes.

Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration. Degree-level qualification in Nursing or equivalent professional experience Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise workload effectively Able to work to deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail Confident working both independently and as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team Strong written and verbal communication skills Competent in the use of IT systems including electronic patient and research record systems Good understanding of patient confidentiality and information governance principles Able to maintain accurate clear and timely clinical and research documentation Committed to delivering high-quality patient-centred care Willingness to undertake Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training and other relevant research training

Previous experience working in clinical research Experience of participant recruitment and informed consent Experience of delivering clinical trials within primary care, community or secondary care settings Competent in venepuncture and sample collection procedures Knowledge of clinical research regulations and governance requirements Experience of maintaining study documentation and research records Experience of electronic data capture systems Experience of working with commercial clinical trials
