Job summary

We are looking for experienced Healthcare Assistants with evidence of with excellent communication and organisational skills. Vacancies are available at Bishops Castle Community Hospital and Ludlow Community Hospital, please specify your preferred site in your supporting information.

You will be working within a busy ward environment with the opportunity to further develop your skills and enhance your knowledge.

We also welcome applications for bank assignments which are available across all of our Community Hospitals.

Interviews will be held face to face at Ludlow Community Hospital.

Main duties of the job

To provide holistic and person-centred care and support community patients in an acute setting. A Healthcare Assistant is a core member of the team delivering personal care to patients and supporting registered practitioners to deliver high quality, compassionate care. To carry out a range of non-clinical healthcare tasks, under the direct supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner. Provide compassionate care, to agreed quality standards and in accordance with Trust values.

Person Specification

Training and Qualifications Essential

Good standard of general education (to include Maths and English). Successful completion of a competency based workbook (within 3 months of start date). Equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3. Completion of the Healthcare Support Worker Academy's 2-week programme within 3 months of start date. Completion of the Care Certificate.

Experience Essential

Experience of time management and prioritising work.

Knowledge and Skills Essential

Knowledge of care and related procedures. Can demonstrate an understanding of what is required within the role of a Healthcare Assistant in the care setting. Awareness of accountability issues e.g. confidentiality. Good interpersonal skills (written and oral). The ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff both written and orally. Maintain a professional approach to all team members, patients, relatives, and the general public.
