Job summary

The Endoscopy Department Booking Office is looking for an enthusiastic part-time Receptionist to join their friendly team, working alongside other admin team members in a fast-paced and busy clinical unit.

Main duties of the job

Greet and receive patients and visitors upon arrival to the Endoscopy unit, ensuring they are welcomed professionally and promptly notifying the appropriate nursing staff of their presence.

Handle telephone calls efficiently, responding to enquiries from both clinical staff and the public regarding patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. Ensure all information is accurately documented and communicated to the relevant individuals.

Manage and organise patient documentation, including the collation, preparation, and electronic scanning of all paperwork into the hospital's patient records system.

Prepare all necessary admission documentation in advance to support smooth patient intake processes.

Perform administrative tasks related to patient admissions and discharges using the patient information system.

Job description Job responsibilities

The post holder will be the primary point of contact for patients and their families within the Endoscopy Unit and will provide a welcoming and professional reception.

The Endoscopy Receptionist will manage telephone enquiries from patients and internal departments with efficiency and courtesy.

The post holder will also support the Endoscopy booked admissions process and carry out a range of essential clerical tasks, including the preparation and management of patient documentation, as well as utilise the hospital's computerised patient information system and assist in data collection and reporting, as required.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Good Standard of Education (equivalent GCSE maths/English)

Desirable

ECDL (or equivalent experience)

Experience Essential

Previous Reception experience and evidence of competence at the role Experience of working within NHS Environment Experience using the PIMs system Customer Care Experience

Knowledge Essential

Organisational skills and the ability to work independently and effectively within a management structure Ability to prioritise and manage own workload Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, both written and verbal Excellent telephone manner

Desirable

Knowledge of electronic reporting scheduling system
