Job summary
As a Clinical Coder, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records. You will review incoming clinical correspondence and ensure relevant information is correctly coded within the patient records and support the wider practice team in delivering high quality patient care
Main duties of the job
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Process and code incoming clinical correspondence, both electronic and paper based.
Be responsible for the scanning and input of accurate data using the appropriate codes using SystmOne and within agreed timescales.
Add QOF recalls and liaise with the Practice Manager.
Be able to adhere to practice protocol to manage the workflow of correspondence.
Have the skills to identify anomalies and be able to question entries.
Forward correspondence to the appropriate clinician when required.
Adhere to patient confidentiality procedures.
Be an effective team player supporting colleagues as required.
Undertake training on Subject Access Requests.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
A good understanding of education, ideally a minimum of GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
Desirable
Previous experience of clinical coding in a GP practice or healthcare setting. Knowledge of SystmOne Understanding of medical terminology
Experience Essential
Excellent attention to detail an accuracy Strong organisational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good IT skills and willingness to learn new systems Enhanced DBS clearance Full UK driving licence Flexibility to provide cover during colleagues annual leave and sickness.
Desirable
