Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated and compassionate healthcare professional to join our friendly and supportive team at Staithes Surgery.
We welcome applications from either:
An experienced Healthcare Assistant HCA with relevant primary care experience or
A registered Nurse with treatment room experience and current NMC registration.
This is a single vacancy, and the successful candidates responsibilities will be tailored to their qualifications, skills, and experience.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient-centred nursing care within a primary care setting, working collaboratively with General Practitioners GPs and the wider multidisciplinary team. The post holder will deliver evidence-based clinical care, promote health and wellbeing.

Maintain accurate patient records using the clinical system SystmOne and comply with confidentiality and data protection requirements.
For Registered Treatment Room Nurses
Wound care and dressings
Immunisations and vaccinations
Maintain accurate patient records using the clinical system SystmOne and comply with confidentiality and data protection requirements.
Chronic disease support
Venepuncture and ECGs
Patient assessment and treatment room management
Health promotion and patient education

Staithes Surgery is a coastal practice with 3100 registered patients. We are part of Whitby Coast and Moors Primary Care Network. Our clinical team includes three GP Partners, one salaried GP, Practice Nurse and Care Coordinator & clinical pharmacist. Staithes Surgery is a dispensing practice, providing dispensing services to registered patients living more than one mile from their nearest pharmacy.

Qualifications Essential
Essential requirements - Healthcare Assistant Applicants Have a minimum of one years' experience working as a Health Care Assistant within a GP practice or primary care setting. Competent in phlebotomy and routine HCA clinical duties. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Kind, compassionate, and patient-focused approach. Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure. Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office. Organised, reliable, and able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Flexible and a willing to undertake further training and professional development. Essential requirements Treatment Room Nurse Registered Nurse with a current NMC PIN. Experience working in a treatment room, GP Practice, or community nurse setting Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Strong organisational and time-management skills. Flexible, reliable, and patient-focused approach.
Desirable
Desirable Criteria both role Experience in primary care or general practice. Experience using SystmOne clinical software. Knowledge of clinical governance and primary care policies. Experience with Patient Group Directions PGDs and or Patient Specific Directions PSDs. Experience in medicines and resource management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
