Job summary
Wells Health Centre is looking to recruit a reliable dispenser, who will be highly motivated, very customer-service focussed with a good attention to detail to join our experienced dispensary team. This role is offered on a part-time basis, for 18 hours per week, ideally working 3 days. This is a varied role and will involve face to face and telephone contact with our patients, along with administrative duties, providing safe and timely dispensing services with cost efficiency considered. We provide a supportive environment for all our staff with a comprehensive induction, training plan, regular administrative meetings and in house and external training sessions.
Main duties of the job
Dispensing duties including labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and checking prescriptions following procedure and processes Attending to patients at the hatch, receiving and giving out prescriptions as outlined in the dispensary standard Be competent and clear in following the dispensary standard operating procedures (SOPs). Answering the phone and taking requests for repeats. Unpacking of orders, checking for discrepancies, and putting stock away. Stock rotation, date checking and storage. Preparing Dossett boxes as per the dispensary standard operational procedure Cleaning and tidying as necessary Ensuring correct disposal of all returned medication, complying with environmental health regulations. Monitoring patient compliance with patient recall for medication review Checking prescription endorsements and amending as necessary Ensuring all prescriptions are completed on the back in full when necessary Dispensing and checking controlled drugs as the dispensary operating procedure Completing the controlled drug register, checking stock levels for accuracy Issuing and dispensing external prescriptions Assist in the successful achievement of Dispensing Services Quality Scheme (DSQS) Any other tasks delegated by the dispensary team To be aware of the process of commercial buying of drugs Assist in maintaining the dispensary sundry orders
About us
Wells Health Centre is a small GP Practice on the Norfolk coast rated as Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). It provides care to around 3,300 patients in and around Burnham Market. In January 2022 the Burnham Market partners joined with Wells Health Centre and the two sites are running as sister sites within the same partnership.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
A qualified NVQ2 or equivalent dispenser, underway or a willingness to start an NVQ2 or equivalent qualification in dispensing.
Experience Essential
Experience of working directly with members of the public in a dispensary or pharmacy environment (or similar) Knowledge and understanding of prescribing and medication management Experience of working as part of a team Experience of managing multiple requests via telephone and email Basic IT skills, including use of email Good written communication skills Good verbal skills, can demonstrate ability to deal with members of the public on the telephone
