Job summary

GY Adult CMHT - Non Medical Prescriber

The Band 7 Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) within the Adult Community Mental Health Team is a senior clinical practitioner responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based care, including autonomous prescribing, to adults with complex mental health needs in community settings. The post holder works as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), contributing advanced clinical expertise to assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management of service users.

Working within the scope of professional registration and prescribing competencies, the NMP provides specialist interventions, optimises pharmacological treatments, and promotes recovery-focused care aligned with NSFT values, national guidance, and local clinical pathways.

Main duties of the job

* Independently prescribe, review, and optimise medication in accordance with legal frameworks, NICE guidance, and Trust policies.

* Develop, implement, and evaluate person-centred care and treatment plans in collaboration with service users, carers, and the MDT. * Monitor treatment response, manage side effects, and ensure safe prescribing practices, including physical health monitoring. * Provide expert clinical advice and guidance to colleagues on mental health conditions and pharmacological management * Contribute to clinical leadership within the team, supporting service development, quality improvement, and safe practice. * Act as care coordinator for a defined caseload where appropriate, ensuring continuity of care and effective risk management. * Deliver evidence-based psychosocial and therapeutic interventions appropriate to role and training.

Qualifications Essential

Registered first level Nurse Nurse prescribing qualification

Experience Essential

Post registration experience Implementing protocols and clinical guidelines

Desirable

Experience in a clinical setting

Skills / Knowledge Essential

Awareness of accountability of own and other's roles in a nurse-led service Management of patients with long-term conditions
