Job summary
We are an NHS award winning department playing a leading role in the modernisation of pathology services in SE Wales in line with the Health Board's Clinical Futures strategy, and the Welsh Government "Future Delivery of Pathology Services in Wales" document. We currently provide all services in house with no outsourcing to external providers.
We are heavily involved in the design and creation of the All Wales Digital Pathology Programme. We utilise AI algorithms for the diagnosis of several specimen types, and are working to implement its use in the reporting of HER2 and associated ISH.
The successful candidate will benefit from a new office, bespoke new microscope, IT packages including laptop, digital equipment and secretarial support.
We have a fully supportive laboratory providing a wide range of immuno's and are willing to look into expanding the repertoire and technologies and clinical needs change.
You will be working within a team to provide a clinical and laboratory Cellular Pathology service to a catchment population of 650,000. The laboratory has full UKAS ISO15189 accreditation, and is networked to provide a comprehensive Cellular Pathology service to the area
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will play an important role in reporting the Health Board's current histopathology cases/backlog with a range of specialties available for reporting which are: Skin, Lung, Head and Neck and GI.
