About this role

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent, full time, Specialist Occupational Therapist role within the Isle of Wight Recovery Service.

We aim to enhance health and well-being by facilitating participation in meaningful activity within community and inpatient settings.

This post is vital to facilitate as far as possible each client's return to maximum function and independence through a range of therapeutic interventions.

These interventions have a significant impact on the wider economy in; reducing length of stay in hospital, reducing admissions and re-admissions, and improving health outcomes.

Main duties of the job

To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

The service is provided in a variety of community and inpatient settings and you will be required to work across different specialist areas.

To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placement

To provide leadership for junior staff, as delegated by supervisor

Supervise Band 5 staff and Occupational therapy assistants where appropriate

To contribute to the development of the Occupational Therapy Service

To maintain HCPC registration and to continually seek to improve performance through reflection, supervision and learning

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy Demonstrated relevant post graduate training for area of work State registration with HCPC Demonstrated broad knowledge and application of current best practice in Occupational Therapy

Desirable

Demonstrated applied knowledge of research and audit

Experience Essential

Demonstrated application of the Occupational Therapy process with defined client groups Demonstrated applied knowledge of treatment techniques relevant to improve and maintain Occupational Performance and Processing for the defined client group. Demonstrated applied knowledge of effective planning and coordination of treatment packages Demonstrated understanding of team dynamics Demonstrated ability to effectively use computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office) to support Occupational Therapy interventions Demonstrated applied knowledge of current legislation

Desirable

Demonstrated applied knowledge of standardised and non-standardised assessment relevant to role
