Job summary

Brent CAMHS have an exiting opportunity to work within CAMHS services to support CYP involved in the Youth Offending system and Enhanced Treatment team (ETT)

We are recruiting a dedicated CAMHS Practitioner with experience in working with young people involved in the youth offending system to support and improve mental health outcomes for young people and their families within Brent YOS and ETT. The postholder will ensure the YOS cohort is well co-ordinated, taking on case management and co-working with the YOS service, as well as providing direct intervention for the young people. In addition, the postholders' caseload will be supplemented with other high risk young people from the ETT caseload to case manage and offer direct intervention as required and appropriate.

We are looking for the right candidate who can work within the youth offending context whilst also maintaining the CAMHS perspective and play a key link role between these two services. The current arrangement is 3 days YOS and 1 day with the Enhanced Treatment Team (ETT). You will be based 2 days at Monks Park, with 1 or 2 days co-located with the YOS service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be jointly responsible for maintaining a collaborative and productive relationship with YOS colleagues within the local authority, managing expectations of service delivery and co-hold risks to the young people known to the service. To maintain the close working relationship, the postholder will be required to be co-located with the YOS team at the Brent Civic Centre, at least one day per week (max. two days). The post holders' main base will be at Monks Park, where they would be expected to be at least 2 days per week to fulfil both YOS and ETT roles and be part of the wider team and CAMHS network.

We are looking for a highly motivated professional with previous experience of working with young people. You will take a lead role in working with local agencies, the private sector and the voluntary sector.

Job description Job responsibilities

The purpose of the role is to provide a CAMHS service to the Youth Offending Service as required by Crime and Disorder act 1998, to ensure children and young people in contact with youth justice service are provided with mental health services.

The YOS worker will compliment an existing coordinated approach by developing and supporting systems to ensure that when a young person enters the youth justice system, the YOS has within it the skill and capacity to ensure that their mental health needs are taken into consideration and addressed effectively. The post holder will ensure that a young person in contact with the youth justice system will have the same access to a comprehensive health service (both mental and physical health) as any other young person within the general population.

The post holder will provide assessment, early intervention and referral to a range of primary and secondary health care services and target YOS service users with a view to developing robust assessment and health planning systems with a view to establishing a whole systems approach to healthcare and treatment for this often difficult to reach client group.

Level of expected specialist clinical skills, competency and knowledge base will be directly related to post qualification clinical experience. Demonstrate extensive, post qualification experience of providing highly specialist and profession based as well as evidence-based interventions within a clinical/therapeutic setting. Demonstrate extensive experience and clinical expertise in delivering the above related to working with children and young people with needs and in relation to placements Demonstrate extensive experience and clinical expertise and be able to take a lead role on the provision of a high-quality specialist service (including consultation, assessment and therapeutic intervention) high-quality specialist service (including consultation, assessment and therapeutic intervention) Demonstrate extensive experience and high levels of competency regarding CAMHS care coordination, including managing highly vulnerable children and young people with complex, multi-agency needs Demonstrate extensive experience and clinical expertise regarding assessing and managing children and young people with high clinical risk needs, including undertaking risk assessments and safety planning Demonstrate experience and specialist professional and clinical practice. Professional/Managerial/Specalist Knowledge Essential

Level of expected specialist clinical skills, competency and knowledge base will be directly related to post qualification clinical experience. Demonstrate specialist knowledge and reasoning regarding a range of evidenced-based professional interventions, including current best practice related to a CAMHS setting. Demonstrate experience and clinical expertise regarding multi agency therapeutic wsafeguarding. This will include providing multi-agency consultation, training and joint care planning orking, including Demonstrate detailed and expert knowledge of relevant legislation and national policies/guidance in relation to mental health issues, youth offending and learning disability needs with children and young people Demonstrate knowledge of issues related to equality, diversity and anti-discriminatory practice Demonstrate specialist knowledge and experience of working with parental mental health or learning disability issues and the impact when working with children and young people Demonstrate specialist knowledge of using routine outcome measurements including evaluating service experience against expected outcomes.

Robust clinical knowledge of adult mental health problems Gained theoretical and practical knowledge (specific to the relevant area of work) that is significantly beyond expected professional core levels

This is a community based post and therefore a valid UK driving licence plus the use of own transport for business purposes is desirable.
