Are you a qualified Social Worker with Children's experience looking for your next role?

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Milton Keynes CAMHS team based at Eaglestone Health Centre on the hospital campus.

Main duties of the job

To provide a range of specialist interventions, advice and support to young people who are identified as having or at risk of developing emotional, psychological or mental health issues. To provide advice and consultation support to others in Tier 1 working with children/young people working across Milton Keynes.

The principal task will be to ensure mental health needs are identified and addressed through appropriate services. This will include the assessment of mental and emotional health needs and facilitating to better understand mental health issues and appropriate referral pathways. As a member of Milton Keynes Specialist CAMHS, the post holder will also be responsible for a personal caseload, working under the professional supervision of a Senior Clinician in CAMHS.

Job description Job responsibilities

Provide direct support to children, young people, parents and staff, both in school and at home, in relation to mental health and emotional difficulties with associated behaviour problems. Contribute to the overall assessment, including risk assessment, of children and young people in terms of their mental health needs. To offer support, advice, signposting and on-ward referral to children, professionals who contact the CAMHS service on the telephone referral line. To offer CAMHS Assessment Clinics for young people in MK catchment area-offering, assessment, short term intervention, professional advice and consultation. Covering the CAMHS Daily Duty service , managing queries and enquiries to parents and professionals contacting the service Liaise with professionals who are currently providing services to children and young people, such as those in primary care settings, childrens services, education and others.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Relevant professional qualification in Social Work Member of a professional body

Desirable

Additional qualifications or training in child and adolescent mental health Educated to degree level

Experience Essential

Substantial experience working in child and adolescent mental health Experience either working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team or multi-agency working. Good understanding of the range of child and adolescent mental health services

Desirable

Knowledge and experience in mental health promotion work.

Skills Essential

Good communication, assessment, planning and recording skills Ability to deliver interventions which address the assessed needs Ability to work co-operatively with other disciplines.

Desirable

Ability to evaluate interventions and practice for service improvement.
