Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Dietitian to join our well-established and highly respected renal dietetic team at Barts Health NHS Trust. This is an excellent opportunity for a dietitian with a strong interest in renal dietetics and good acute dietetic skills to further develop their career within one of the largest renal units in Europe.
As a Band 6 Renal Dietitian, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality dietetic care across a variety of settings, including:o Inpatient services, including renal transplant patientso Haemodialysis patients (both in-centre and satellite units)o Pre-dialysis outpatient clinics
The role is primarily based at the Royal London Hospital, with up to one day per week at dialysis satellite units in East London. East London has a diverse and multicultural community and pockets of deprivation.

Main duties of the job
To provide a specialist clinical dietetic service at Band 6 level to patients cared for by the Bart's Health Renal Services. This will include renal wards at the Royal London Hospital; renal outpatient and dialysis patients at Newham University Hospital, Hornchurch Dialysis Unit, Whipps Cross Hospital, King George's Hospital or other Satellite units which may be opened in the future.
The main base will be at The Royal London Hospital but there is a requirement to visit your designated satellite unit to provide dietetic services.
To function as an integral member of the clinical team, providing specialist dietetic care and contributing to patient outcomes. To continually evaluate and improve the service by undertaking audit and active research

Qualifications Essential
BSc Nutrition & Dietetics or relevant postgraduate qualification. HCPC registered. Qualification in area of specialism(s) or evidence of significant experience in specialism

Demonstrable post registration clinical experience in relevant settings. Demonstrable experience of working within a multidisciplinary team and understanding team dynamics
Knowledge Essential
Knowledge of renal dietetic clinical speciality. Documented evidence of commitment to continuing professional development (CPD). Understanding of clinical governance and its relevance to everyday practice.
Skills Essential
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with people from a variety of backgrounds e.g. via advocacy/interpreters Ability to present complex information to large groups (20+ attendees) e.g. presentations to Medical and nursing staff and other health care professionals as well as patients. The ability to supervise student dietitians Ability to work effectively single handily with individuals and groups. Ability to demonstrate behaviour change/ motivational interviewing through dietetic consultations. Ability to problem solve, analyse complex clinical problems and create practical solutions to provide best clinical care. Ability to communicate complex medical conditions in sensitive and easily understandable language. Accurate anthropometric measurements and skills e.g. weights, heights, skin fold calipers to assess nutritional status and devise clinical plan Ability to undertake audit and change practice in accordance to findings. Ability to research and interpret literature and apply to own practice to ensure clinical practice is up to date. Computer Literacy i.e. Microsoft word, powerpoint, excel. Good organisational skills i.e. managing own workload. Ability to be self-motivated, take initiative and plan own workload and CPD.
